Bike Movie& General Ramblings28 Dec 2009 04:35 pm

30 Seconds to Mars is giving away copies of “The Ride” music video on a number of sites around the web. I downloaded a copy through iTunes last night for FREE! Not only are they one of my favorite bands, but the video is filled with bikes. So even if your not a fan 30 seconds to mars, download the video and enjoy watching people on bikes.

I didn’t upload this video, so special thanks to axcx619, who already got a copy up.

Snow Biking28 Dec 2009 04:12 pm

Temperatures have been low through holiday weekend. Perfect to keep the ground frozen and snow sticking to the ground. On Saturday, we saw enough snow to cover the roads. I decided to have a quick ride around the community. The quick ride turned into a epic spin around every part of Founders and the Ranch.

While riding out to the point I found Jared’s tracks. I tried to follow what I thought were crosscountry ski tracks, but ended up doing a bit of pushing my bike through the open space.

After playing in the snow for nearly 2 hours, I was out of water and starting to get cold. I headed in, but not without one more pass through the natural trail behind my house.

Its pretty amazing the amount of riding you can do in your own community. Sorry no pictures, its my 2010 resolution to start packing a camera.

It snowed Friday night. The next morning the trails were covered with fresh snow. Jared and Matt (from Alpha Bicycles) joined me for the ride. Ridgeline saw three purpose built snow bikes that day. Not a sole on the trail, but the three of us. We stopped for a few minutes, so I could adjust my face mask for the downhills. Jared took a few pictures of us and the trail. Great photos, enjoy.

Edit: Just realized it didn’t publish

Mountain Biking& Snow Biking27 Nov 2009 03:59 pm

I figured Thanksgiving morning would be the perfect time to ride. The trails most likely will be frozen, and might still have a little snow on them from Monday. I decided to keep it local, so I rode the Ridgeline trail, here in Castle Rock. The temperature started off 40° F,and was quickly warming.

The first 30 minutes of the ride was perfect. Frozen mud trail, patches of packed snow,  and mild temperatures. The fat bike did great on the icy snowing stretches of trail. Traction was not a concern, and my line was perfect. I decided to stop at take some pictures with my phone.

I had a blast, then I realized just how warm it had gotten. Trails began to thaw, and forced me to ride the last few miles in slippery, muddy conditions.  While the bike left little or no tracks through the mud, it seams the mud left a few tracks on my bike. I took a few more picture once I was back at the car.

It snowed 12 inches in Castle Rock last night. I was happy to brave the below 30° F weather, and enjoy 3 hours of mountain biking around towne. I met up with Josh, a friend from mtbr forums, and we had a blast carving tracks in 8-10 inches of snow. I had so much fun, but need to hit the hot tub.

Mom, Dad, and Jen had their laughs and cameras ready. Enjoy the photos.
